Bucket List

Not sure how many of you have seen the movie the "Bucket List" but even before I watched the movie I found it neccessary to make my own list of things I want to do someday before I kick the bucket! I've always been envious of people who could run marathons and accomplish such a time consuming task. In the back of my mind I always thought it would be fun to try. A good friend of mine from Mankato recently ran her first full marathon and I felt like I couldn't stop asking her questions about it. After talking she asked me if I wanted to do a run with her this summer and I said yes, what do I do first? So......I started running........My goal this summer was to run a 10k at some point but thought I better start out slow. I ran my first 5k (3.1 miles) in July with a time of 31.33. My next task ended up being an 8k (4.96 miles) that I ran in September with a time of 51.53 and FINALLY this last weekend I ran my first 10k (6.2 miles) with a time of 1 hour 9 minutes. The time was not as good as I had hoped but mainly I wanted to actually run the entire time and complete the run. I ended up coming in 202 out of 242. I'm told I did good for my "first time" so now all I can do is try and improve I guess. I've decided that my body isn't made for full marathons, however I think a 1/2 marathon could be in my future........another task to put on the old bucket list.

Godparents

Rylie must have talking to the kids at day care yesterday about godparents. When we got home last night she was determined to find out who her "Berry Godmother" is? My guess is she meant "Fairy Godmother". I chuckeled.

I then explained to her that she was a very lucky little girl because she had 2 Godmothers. Auntie Tammy and Antie Brooke. You two have your hands full..........:-)

1st day of 4 year old Pre-school

Rylie started school today. She attended the 3 year old program last year every Wednesday and this year she will attend all day on Tuesday's and Thursday's. She was so excited the night before. We had her clothes layed out, her shoes sitting by the door and the back-pack ready to go!!!! Auntie Tammy is her teacher. When you ask her what her teacher's name is she says "Mrs. Brust". But when she talkes to Tammy at school she always calls her by her first name. Some of the kids in her class are Morgan, Lexi, Kate, Hayden and Halle......so there were not to many strangers. As you can see by the last picture, Addisyn was NOT going to be left out. She had to put her back pack on as well and she wanted to ride the School Bus too. Rylie didn't hesitate to tell her that she was to "little" to go to school, it was only for "big" kids!

Family time

We got to babysit baby Carson this past weekend. Brian and Bobbie had a wedding out of town so we go the chance to "love" Carson up all weekend long!!! The girls had a great time with him and he put up with them as much as he could. I actually think my girls wore him out. He is 5 1/2 months old and he slept from 9:30 p.m to 8:15 a.m. What a good little boy. It was really nice to have him around.
Tonight we celebrated my mom's birthday. Rylie kept telling people Grandma was "42" . I think grandma has her brainwashed.........We all know that isn't true!!!! ha.......but maybe I should go along with that......then I would only be 21.........hmmmmmm.
Mom (Mary) had fun sharing her thoughts about each grandchild tonight. These are her thoughts so far:
Mason - Most Stubborn Grandchild
Rylie - Loudest Grandchild
Morgan - Best story teller (little fibber)
Addisyn - Most laugh-able - Something about her just makes you laugh.
Dawson - Most Precious in a Devil-ish kind of way.
Carson - Most adorable - he is just cute mom says.......even with his Lyle Lovett hair!

Miss Independent

Kids......Its funny how they can be so different. Rylie is four and would still let me dress her everyday if I would.....there are some days she begs ME to brush HER teeth......I try and remind her that she is four and can brush her own teeth.......sometimes I give in, cause afterall, she is only four and I want to try and keep her "little" as long as I can.............Then there is Addisyn.......she is two.....but do you think I can do ANYTHING for her????? No......."I do it, mom, I do it" Talk about independent..........She has to put her own coat on, her own shoes on, her own clothes on......and if I even thought about trying to help her brush her teeth.......well, I am certain I would get a stirn look from my Miss Independent. I love them both.....in their own unique way......

Life is to short

I received an e-mail the other day and thought it hit home. Just wanted to share the words, not sure who the author is:

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and its harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing by too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.

Fireball

Short Story: We enjoyed our labor weekend by going camping in Arco this year. (yes.........all the way to arco). We also got to celebrate Mason's 6th Birthday while we were there. The kids had a great time and got to hit the pinata and the whole nine yards........It was fun to watch........After Rylie got her candy picked up and put in her little baggie she came over to me and wanted to eat a "fireball". I said Rylie you won't like that, its really hot. She said "Ok mom, I'll just wait until later on when it cools down."
So simple. Thanks for the chuckle Ry Ry........
